Aussie new boy Luke Walsh saluted the travelling army of Saints supporters who made their vocal presence felt at the Halliwell Jones Stadium last Thursday night.
“I haven’t quite experienced anything quite like it before,” said the former Penrith Panthers scrum half.
And it was fitting after such a fine individual performance that he was able to put the icing on the cake by scoring the final try in front of his own fans.
“It was a good performance by everyone I thought,” said Walsh.
“The second half was a little bit scrappy, so there is something to work on.
“Our defence was good in the first half and the boys dug deep in the second half. It’s a good win.”
He added: “I enjoyed myself. I’m still getting used to the weather and the ground conditions. For my first go, it was good.
“It’s very different from back home, but I’m already enjoying it.”
