Meadows’ Olympics hopes suffer injury setback

LONDON 2012 hopeful Jenny Meadows is out of the Olympic trials this weekend.

The 800m runner, who is from Wigan, is struggling to reover from an Achilles injury.

Meadows, 31, won a bronze medal in the 2009 World Championship.

She is instead planning to return to the track at the European Championships in Helsinki next week where she hopes to perform well enough to gain a place in the Olympic team.
