Makinson - We’re good enough to break Grand Final hoodoo

TOMMY Makinson is convinced St Helens have what it takes to make a seventh consecutive Grand Final.

Mike Rush’s side have climbed to third in the league after a dismal start to the season which saw head coach Royce Simmons lose his job.

“We’re having a great run. We’ve spoken about these last few games and we want to carry it on,” said Makinson.

St Helens last won the Super League crown in 2006 but have lost every single Grand Final since.

“We want to go all the way, like last year, and hopefully go one better,” added the winger.

“When Ade Gardner is back, we’ve got a fully-fit squad. There’s competition for places everywhere and the players that are lucky enough to be in the team at the moment have got to earn their place.”
