Saints ace Wilkin banned for two matches

Saints suffered their second blow of the day when Jon Wilkin was banned for two matches for a reckless high tackle on Wakefield’s Chris Riley during Sunday’s Super League encounter at Belle Vue.

The experienced second rower, who has stood in place of injured scrum-half Luke Walsh, and will miss the visit of Leeds Rhinos to Langtree Park on Friday and the following weekend’s Tetley’s Challenge Cup game at Huddersfield.

He was also fined £300.

Earlier in the day team-mate Kyle Amor was banned for one match after admitting a similar offence on Matty Ryan in the same match and will miss the top-of-the-table clash against the Loiners.
