LEON Pryce, who has missed the opening three Super League fixtures due to a groin problem, is in line for a return as Saints head for a Saturday date against Catalans Dragons in the south of France.
The influential stand-off hasn’t played a competitive match since pulling out of last season’s Challenge Cup semi-final against Leeds Rhinos at Huddersfield on August 7 with a neck injury which eventually required surgery.
But he is itching to get back on board and bring experience and guile to a Saints’ side lying seventh in the table with a win, draw and defeat to show from their first three fixtures.
All his know-how will be needed in the Gilbert Brutus Stadium, where the French are difficult to beat, and will be in a buoyant mood after their surprise 31-18 win at Hull KR on Sunday.
Saints will also be monitoring the fitness of full-back Paul Wellens – currently playing through the pain barrier with a rib injury – and the progress of Gary Wheeler (back) and Shaun Magennis (wrist).
