EX-Saint and charity champion Steve Prescott (pictured) has rejoined St Helens on the coaching staff.
The former St Helens and Hull FC full-back has been working alongside Under-20s coach Ian Talbot.
Prescott – who is battling a rare form of stomach cancer – has already held a coaching post at Hull, which he had to relinquish after his diagnosis.
His appointment comes six years after he was told by doctors he had just six months to live.
Since then, Prekkie has confounded medics by completing a series of gruelling endurance challenges, and raising hundreds of thousands of pounds for charity.
He said: “I am still having scans every three months, and there is also a chance of me needing chemotherapy.
“But Saints have been excellent and have accommodated me really well.
“I have been coaching for a few weeks now, and we’ve had some good sessions with extremely talented young kids.
“Now it’s my job to prepare them for that step up in standard.
“I hope I can offer them the motivation and skills they’ll need to make that step up, which can be difficult in a pressure environment.”
