Centre Mark Percival, who has missed the last three matches through injury, is named in Saints’ 19-man squad for Saturday’s First Utility Super League trip to the Catalans Dragons.

Full-back Shannon McDonnell is also recalled while centre Jordan Turner, who was carried off on a stretcher suffering from concussion during last week’s game against Warrington Wolves at Langtree Park, has successfully come through the necessary pre-match medical tests and takes his place in the squad.

Saints head coach Keiron Cunningham said: “We have six games left before the split and the points are vital.

“There are clubs chasing us down and we’d like to get on some kind of run to chase those down in front of us, too.

“We face a lot of tough games along the way but we have to start building into something. The signs are good as a group, we are working hard for each other, but we just need to produce a complete game as a unit.”

The Saints’ boss added: “I’d never lose confidence in this group. I believe in what we have here.

“You look around at the greatness that is still sprinkled around the place and the people involved. You can’t lose faith in these players.

“They are a good group and are working hard on and off the field but we need that complete package. When we do we will be a good side.

“There can never be a better week to change things than going to Catalans and all the boys are looking forward to playing there.”

It will be a tough examination for Saints who will face overseas rivals beaten only twice on their own soil this season and that was against the current top two, Hull FC and Warrington Wolves.

Cunningham will select his 17 from:

1. Jonny Lomax, 3. Jordan Turner, 4. Mark Percival, 5. Adam Swift, 8. Alex Walmsley, 9. James Roby, 10. Kyle Amor, 11. Atelea Vea, 12. Jon Wilkin, 13. Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook, 14. Lama Tasi, 15. Greg Richards, 17. Luke Thompson, 19. Theo Fages, 20. Joe Greenwood, 21. Matty Dawson, 22. Jack Owens, 23. Shannon McDonnell, 28. Morgan Knowles.

The game kicks off at 5pm (UK time) and the referee is Chris Campbell.
