Visitors Highfield inflict Rainford’s first defeat of the season

Highfield inflicted Rainford’s first defeat of the season at the Jubilee recreation ground last Saturday winning by 59 runs.

The visitors made 166 despite an excellent spell from John Dotters (6 for 51) and three wickets for Andy Davies.

Rainford then lost four wickets for 32 before being all out for 107.

Rainford second XI drew with St Helens Town after compiling 154 for 8 declared, Matt Campbell (40) and Euan Tully (29). St Helens Town made 99 for 7 at the close.

On Sunday St Helens Town thirds beat Rainford thirds by one run.
