Pilkington Recs - St Helens’ last surviving amateur club in the third round of the Tetley’ Challenge Cup - couldn’t have hand-picked a much tougher tie when the draw was made on Monday night.

They will travel to Kingstone Press Championship outfit North Wales Crusaders on the weekend of March 15-16 - a club which can boast players of international standing and vast Super League experience under their belt.

Stuart Reardon, a former Bradford Bulls ace and fellow ex-England international Stephen Wild, are among coach Clive Griffiths’ high profile squad.

Realistically, Recs are underdogs to reach the fourth round, when the Super League clubs enter the competition, but coach Kurt Haggerty has pledged to have his players fired up for the occasion.
