Lamb brothers clean up at Trafford meet

Sutton St Helens’ Chris Lamb came with eight centimetres of his own javelin club record, with a throw of 39.63 metres at a recent meeting in Trafford.

At the same meeting, Daniel Lamb won the long jump with 5.36 metres and took second place in the 100m (12.2 secs).

Megan Lang was second in the hurdles (13.3 secs.) and Elizabeth Greenall was second in the long jump (3.29m), the 150m (24.8secs.) and set a personal best 600m time of 2 min.03.4 secs.

Lauren Fairclough was fourth in the shot with 8.13 metres, with Emma Fairclough (1.45m) taking fourth place in the high jump. Others taking part included Caitlin Young, Dylan O’Brien, Oliver Lloyd and Joe Houghton.

There was a good turnout for the Run the Bridge race involving the Runcorn to Widnes bridge. Fastest for the club was Andrew Wilson who finished 27th in the large field in 29 min 52 secs.

Next was Jamie White 30 min.31 secs. closely followed by Ian Costello with 31 min.08 secs. Andy O’Connor ran 31 min 59 secs, Chris Falls (35 min 30 secs).

Other men finishers were. Kevin Cunningham, Anthony Young and Liam Doyle. Julia Eccleston was the first of the club’s twelve ladies, running 37 min.17 secs. followed by Pam Appleton (41 min.48 secs.), Linda White (43 min.27 secs.) and Jame Ashcroft (43 min.57 secs.). The othe lady finishers were Karen Harrison, Rachel Wilcock, Rachel Beasley, Pauline Picton, Elaine Ahern, Vicky Hewitt and Louise Hill.

The club had three representatives running in, and completing, in the London Marathon. Billy Mousdale an over 50yrs. veteran was 207th in 3 hrs.15 min39 secs. was first back followed by the two ladies Karen Harrison (786th V45, 4 hrs.42 min.31 secs.) and Janice Lawson (285th V55, 5 hrs.47 min.47 secs...
