Stephen Bunting will meet five-times champion Raymond van Barneveld in the second round of this year's world darts championship at the Alexandra Palace, London, after the Christmas break.
Both players cruised through their opening matches with a 3-0 scoreline last night (Sunday) - Bunting beating Germany's Jyhan Artut and Barney fellow Dutchman Dirk van Duijvenbode.
Neither player hit peak form but now the stage is set for a repeat of their epic battle in the quarter finals nearly 12 months ago which a tearful Bunting lost by the skin of his teeth.
Bunting said: “Barney spoke well of me on the stage last year and I believe it helped me earn a place in the premier league.
“I have looked up to him for many years. He's a great guy but I hope I can turn the tables on him this time.”
