Mighty Mal Meninga, who set Knowsley Road alight in one never-to-be-forgotten winter season, will be returning to the town early next month.
The Aussie will be joining former Knowsley Road team-mates, skipper Harry Pinner, Neil Holding and Peter Gorley, as part of a unique dinner at Langtree Park on Wednesday, November 6.
They will be reliving stories surrounding the 1984-85 season in which Saints lifted the Lancashire Cup at the expense of Wigan and then went on to be crowned Premiership champions by defeating Hull KR at Elland Road, Leeds - both victories being inspired by Meninga’s mercurial skills and awesome power.
BBC commentator and ex-Saints star Ray French, who played a key role in helping the club capture Meninga’s prized signature, will act as chairman on the night.
Tickets for this once-in-a-lifetime event, which costs £35, are selling well and includes a three-course meal.
There is also a special premium package which includes a drink on arrival, priority table and an exclusive chat with the four stars of yesteryear.
The price for this is £500 for a table of 10 or £50 per head.
