SAINTS have described reporting linking Sean Long with a return to the club as ‘pure speculation’.

The Hull scrum half, who has moved back to the North West in recent weeks, is believed to be keen to rejoin his former club where he spent more than a decade of virtually never-ending success.

Long is contracted with Hull FC until the end of the season and is currently out with an Achilles tendon injury.

He left Saints at the end of the 2009 season after the club declined to offer him a two-year extension to his contract.

A transfer to Saints for Long, who will turn 36 during the 2012, would represent an amazing return for the player who spent more than a decade at Knowsley Road.
