Long and Veivers plot Saints’ downfall in opening fixture

TWO old boys will be attempting to spoil the party when Saints play their first engage Super League fixture of 2012, at Langtree Park, on Friday, February 10.

Hoping to plot their downfall on what will be a historic night at the club’s new stadium will be Salford City Reds, coached by Phil Veivers whose backroom team includes the mercurial Sean Long.

St Helens will start Super League XV11 with an away trip to rebranded London Broncos at the Stoop on Saturday, February 4, and they are also scheduled to face arch-rivals Wigan Warriors on at least three occasions.

The clubs will meet at Langtree Park on Good Friday, face each other at the Magic Weekend, which this year is being staged at Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium on May 26-27, and the final league match of the regular season will be at the DW Stadium on September 7.
