ANTHONY Laffranchi believes he can help transform Saints from nearly men to champions.
Laffranchi has settled in well to life in the Super League and has been one of the club’s top performers.
He joined St Helens during the off-season from the Gold Coast Titans and want to turn around the tide following five consecutive Grand Final defeats.
The 31-year-old had his pick of Super League clubs in the off-season but he is adamant St Helens was the right choice and that he can help the five-time champions win their first title since 2006.
“I’ve always been interested in coming over to the Super League and winning a Grand Final,” said Laffranchi.
“I’ve been fortunate over in Australia to play for two great clubs and the time was right to join another great club in St Helens. The opportunity came up and I jumped at it.
“To get that first win at home against Salford was important. We wanted to repay the fans and set the tone for the new home ground.
“We want to turn Langtree Park into a bit of a fortress.
“It was good to get off the mark as well, even if it was in the final 10 seconds of the game.”
