NATHAN Brown has admitted he could not put his finger on why Saints have looked vulnerable at home and unbeatable away.
“I don’t think there is a logical answer,” said Brown who feels none of the 14 Super League clubs have yet to shown any real consistency.
He also defended his decision to leave Mark Percival out of his 17-man squad for the game at Warrington after the 18-year-old produced a man of the match performance the previous week against the Leeds Rhinos.
“Hopfully, Mark has got many years ahead of him but we must nuture his talent in the right manner,” said the head coach.
He added: “Hopefully, Mark will play a number of games this season but we don’t want to burn him out.
“He is only a young kid and coming up against a big bloke like Carl Ablett on his debut took a lot out of him.”
Prop forward Alex Walmsley was another absentee from the squad but he was given much-needed game time with his former club, Batley Bulldogs, coming on as a substitute in a 24-18 victory at Doncaster.
