Stone Dominoes 2 St Helens Town 1
ST Helens Town endured a disappointing week as they succumbed to successive defeats.
Last Tuesday, against Stone Dominoes, Town dominated the early exchanges, but failed to turn this into goals.
Stone were lucky not to see Allen sent off after a late challenge on Kavanagh, and, while the Town player was off the pitch receiving treatment, Allen took advantage of the extra space to slot home.
Brown levelled soon afterwards with a well-struck free-kick from the edge of the box, and this was enough to see the teams level at the break.
But Town were on the back foot in the second period. The winner for the hosts came five minutes from time, when a massive deflection changed the direction of Reaney’s shot, and secured the points for the Staffordshire outfit.

Town stalwart Iain Dyson made his 250th appearance for the club on Saturday but, unfortunately, the team performance was well below par.
The visitors went into the break two goals to the good, after wonder strikes from Bailey and Matthews.
The second period saw Matthews add his second, before Town struck the self-destruct button, as errors presented Bailey and Bowman with easy finishes to complete the Trafford outfit’s rout.
n Town host Winsford United this Saturday, September 3 (kick-off 3pm).
They then visit Runcorn on Monday, September 5 (kick-off 7.45pm).
