Cunningham: I know nothing of Thomas Leuluai deal

Keiron Cunningham has poured cold water on suggestions former Wigan Warriors and London Broncos half-back Thomas Leuluai will be moving to Langtree Park next season.

“We have already had four players linked with St Helens - and the current season is only three months old,” said the Saints’ head coach.

He added: “I don’t know anything about a Leuluai deal and I am responsible for all the recruiting at the club so this should give you a good indication where we stand on the issue.

“I am sure there are good players like Thomas who want to come back to England and are naturally linked with clubs like ours.

“I know what positions we need to fill in the future and we are well ahead in this direction but there is plenty more water to flow under the bridge before we get there.”

Speculation that the Kiwi World Cup winner - now playing in the NRL with New Zealand Warriors - may have been fuelled by the fact that the contract of Saints’ Australian half back Luke Walsh expires at the end of this season and someone somewhere has put two and two together and come up with four.
