Saints coach Nathan Brown is in favour of extending the World Club Challenge by including additional clubs from the northern and southern hemispheres in the competition.
Brown also praised Wigan’s battling display in last weekend’s World Club Challenge against the Sydney Roosters at the Allianz Stadium despite a 36-14 defeat.
He said: “I think it would be be a good thing for everyone and anything we can do to help the game grow, especially in this country, is a positive move.”
“They can be proud of their performance by the way they fought back from an early 18-0 deficit
“Had another Australian team found themselves trailing by 18 points in similar circumstance they would have finished up losing by 50 to 60 points.”
