Young cyclist “critical” after Linkway crash

An 11-year-old boy is fighting for his life following a crash on the St Helens Linkway near the Rainhill Stoops motorway junction.

The youngster was cycling with two friends at about 3.30pm on Saturday (October 4) when his bike collided with a Ford Fiesta.

Police say he sustained serious head injuries in the crash and was taken to Aldey Hey Children’s Hospital, where his condition is described as “critical”.

The driver of the Ford Fiesta stopped at the scene.
