Woman caught in machine at St Helens factory

Firefighters rescued a woman who became trapped in machinery during an industrial accident in St Helens.

Crews were despatched to a site in Normans Road, Sutton, on Thursday at around 3pm.

It is believed the woman was trapped in machinery at a plant on the industrial estate.

A spokesman for Merseyside Fire and Rescue said: “Three fire engines and the Search and Rescue Team attended the scene.

“Firefighters assisted paramedics in helping a woman in to a helicopter for transportation to hospital.

“A fire engine was temporarily stationed on Reginald Road to manage traffic.

“Crews remained at the scene for around 40 minutes.”
