MORE than 140 competitors have been put through their paces to raise money for Willowbrook Hospice.
The duathlon saw competitors complete a 3km run, a 30km bike ride through Knowsely and St Helens followed by another 3km run.
The event, which started and finished in the grounds of Knowsley Safari Park, was won by Frank McCoy, 34, from Liverpool, who completed the duathlon in just under an hour.
He was closely followed by Stuart Baines, 41, from Hebden Bridge and Ian Williams, 50, from Liverpool.
Organiser Mark Pilkington, from the hospice’s fundraising team, said: “It’s the first time that we’ve organised a duathlon and the turnout was fantastic – particularly given the 7am start.
“All the competitors were amazing and really dug deep to complete the challenge and raise money for Willowbrook.”
