A MAJOR housing trust has made Willowbrook Hospice its charity of the year.

Knowsley Housing Trust will support the hospice over the next 12 months.

Helen White, chairwoman of the Knowsley Housing Trust board, said: “Willowbrook provides care for both patients and their families, and many local people will have needed the support of the hospice in their lives or know someone who has.

“They make a real difference to people’s lives and we will be supporting the charity any way we can.”

Willowbrook cares for adults with life-limiting illnesses across St Helens and Prescot.

Its dedicated team provides specialist palliative care to more than 850 people each year, and help each patient to achieve the best quality of life possible.

Neil Wright, chief executive of Willowbrook Hospice, said: “It costs £2.8 million each year to run the hospice and we rely heavily on fundraising to maintain our services. KHT’s efforts will greatly help us to provide the best possible care and we are delighted that they have chosen to support us.”

KHT staff will take part in the hospice’s Moonlight Walk.
