SOME of the best cyclists in the world will be racing through St Helens next week when the Tour of Britain comes to town.
The race will pass through the borough on its way to Knowsley Safari Park, where a tense, sprint finish is expected.
Tour de France winner and Olympic champion Bradley Wiggins and World champion Mark Cavendish will among those competing in the race.
The race passes St Helens on Tuesday (September 10) with the riders expected in Garswood at around 1.30pm where the route will take them along Billinge Road to Newton Road and into Billinge.
They will then travel down Main Street and onto Rainford Road towards Rainford, through Crank and on to Higher lane through Rainford onto Ormskirk Road, then out of the borough along the Rainford by-pass towards the finish line Knowsley.
