RESIDENTS are being urged to use a new bus service linking St Helens Hospital and the town centre - or risk losing it.
The number 28 service, operated by Nip On, was launched at the end of last year.
But despite being the only bus running directly to the hospital grounds, numbers remain low and it is feared the route could be axed if more passengers do not start using the service.
Coun Marlene Quinn, St Helens Council’s representative on the Merseyside Integrated Transport Authority, said: “From comments and representations made to the council over the last few years, we believe there is a real demand for this service.
“But many people still seem unaware that it’s operating, so we’re trying to get the message across that there is now a regular, reasonably priced alternative to getting a taxi or asking someone for a lift.”
