Two teenage boys have been charged with a vicious, unprovoked attack which left a 58-year-old man with a broken arm.
The 15 and 16-year-olds, who cannot be named for legal reasons, were both charged with assault causing grievous bodily harm without intent.
They have both been bailed to appear before St Helens Youth Court on Tuesday, July 1.
Police launched an appeal for witnesses to the April 19 attack earlier this week.
Detectives released CCTV stills of two suspects they believed were responsible for attacking a man on Bridge Street in the town centre.
The victim was hit on the back of the head, causing him to fall over. As he fell, his arm became trapped in rails. He was rushed to hospital and found to be suffering a broken arm.
