A ST HELENS animal lover has been reunited with her pet ferret after it escaped and showed up in the St Helens Reporter’s Picture of the Week feature!
Angela Hussey, of Cromdale Grove, St Helens, was devastated when four-year-old Beryl the ferret went missing from her home.
Desperately wanting to find her safe and well, Angela launched a search and put up posters asking people to keep a look-out.
Several days later, Angela spotted the fury creature in the St Helens Reporter’s Picture of the Week.
Angela said: “I was devastated when Beryl escaped, she is a member of the family and I just really wanted her back.
“I’ve tried so hard to ferret-proof my house and garden but she seems to be able to get through the smallest of holes.
“Thankfully she was found by the staff at Bargain Booze on Fleet Lane, they took her home and contacted me to let me know they had found her.
“But to get there, Beryl had to cross Fleet Lane which is a very busy road, and dodge all the traffic.
“I’m amazed nothing happened to her.
“Then the next minute, my boyfriend said to me “do you know you’re living with a celebrity” and showed me a picture of Beryl in this paper!”
Beryl – or Houdini as she has now been nicknamed – had wandered into the garden of Terry Brunskill who also lives across the main road.
After feeding tiny Beryl, Terry took a picture and sent it in to our Picture of the Week feature.
Angela added: “I’m so glad she is back with us.
“I’d like to thank the staff at Bargain Booze for all their help and for the Brunskills for sending in the picture as it alerted me to where she had been.”
