A Sutton man who was handed a suspended jail sentence for drink-driving is among those who have appeared before magistrates recently.

Gary Michael Haggerty (54): Milton Grove, St Helens - Assaulted Diane Haggerty by beating: 12-month community order with rehabilitation requirement, £60 victim surcharge, £150 costs to the Crown Prosecution Service.

Paul David Hickey (33): Wargrave Road, Newton-le-Willows - Assaulted Kirsty White by beating: Jailed for 14 weeks due to the length and manner of assault, involving strangulation, restraining order not to contact the victim or enter Peel Street, Newton-le-Willows, £200 compensation.

Daniel John Howard (25): Pentland Avenue, St Helens - Failed without reasonable excuse to comply with a community order, breach of a restraining order: 12-month community order with rehabilitation requirement, £100 fine, £55 costs.

Zack Taylor (19): Weedon Avenue, Newton-le-Willows - Failed without reasonable excuse to comply with supervision requirements following a release from custody: Supervision default order with 20 hours of unpaid work, £55 fine.

Andrew Turner (25): Ridgewood Drive, Sutton, St Helens - Assaulted Lani Kay, damaged furniture to the value of £500 belonging to Lani Kay, drink driving with 57 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, with the legal limit being 35 microgrammes, possession of cocaine: Jailed for eight weeks, suspended for 12 months, £650 compensation, £80 victim surcharge, £400 costs to the Crown Prosecution Service, banned from driving for 12 months.

Craig Anthony Carney (26): Junction Lane, St Helens: Damaged a UPVC door panel and glass belonging to Gillian Carney - £150 fine, £20 victim surcharge, £85 costs to the Crown Prosecution Service.
