A 20-year-old woman who was £600 out of pocket after dropping a cigarette in Church Street is among those who have appeared before local magistrates.

Callum Stephen Michael Cresser (19): Clock Face Road, Clock Face, St Helens – Damaged the walls and furniture of the taxi office at Waterdale Place, St Helens, assaulted police constable Antini Jan Gembalczyk, thereby occasioning him actual bodily harm, and used abusive or insulting words or behaviour. Committed to prison for 18 weeks, suspended for 24 months, pay £85 costs to the Crown Prosecution Service, and £400 compensation.

Adam John De Gray Birch (22): Swisspine Gardens, St Helens – Assaulted Daisy South by beating. 12-month community order made, and restraining order made. Must not enter Hazel Avenue, Whiston, and must not enter McDonalds, Chalon Way, St Helens. Fined £200, £100 compensation, £60 victim surcharge, and £400 costs to the Crown Prosecution Service.

Dillan James Ainscough (20): North Road, St Helens – Failed without reasonable excuse to comply with the requirement of a community order. Order to continue and £65 costs.

John Paul Birkett (22): Carlow Street, St Helens – Stole two Nutribullet Blenders to the value of £154, belonging to Morrisons Boundary Road, drove without a licence and used a motor vehicle without insurance. Discharged conditionally for two years, fined £110, £20 victim surcharge, £85 costs to the Crown Prosecution Service and disqualified for holding or obtaining a driving licence for six months.

Maureen Jones (59): Maple Avenue, Newton-le-Willows – Drink-driving with 135 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millimetres of breath, exceeding the prescribed limit of 35 microgrammes. Committed to prison for 12 weeks suspended for 12 months, disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 36 months, £80 victim surcharge and £85 costs to the Crown Prosecution Service.

Jamie Kenneth Reeve (31): Billington Avenue, Newton-le-Willows – Refused to comply with the requirements of a community order. Fined £50 and £55 costs.

Adrian Edwards (37): Sidderley Drive, Newton-le-Willows – Dropped a cigarette butt and left it in Church Street. Fined £440, £44 victim surcharge, and £195 costs.

Tracy Geddes (42): Blackstone Avenue, St Helens – Failed without reasonable excuse to comply with the requirements of a community order. Fined £50 and £55 costs.

Rickie Murphy (30): Freemantle Avenue, St Helens – Dropped a cigarette butt and left it in Corporation Street, St Helens. Fined £295, £30 victim surcharge, and £195 costs.

Peter Woods (65): Church Road, Rainford – Failed to comply with a protection notice, ensuring that any dogs under their control or ownership were kept under proper control at all times, and to ensure that they did not stray, harass, frighten or endanger anyone.
