GEORGE Formby fans Neil Forshaw and Frank Laird have helped mark the 50th anniversary of the Lancashire icon’s death.

The pair - who are both from Earlestown - joined other Formby fans

in placing Lancashire red roses placed at his statue in star’s hometown of Wigan.

Neil, vice-chairman of The George Formby Society, said: “It was a very special weekend.”
