A teenager has been charged after a 16-year-old boy was stabbed in the face in St Helens town centre.

The victim was injured on the Range car park at Chalon Way, off Linkway, shortly after 1.20am on Friday March 25.

He was taken to hospital with a one-inch puncture wound to the side of his face.

A 16-year-old boy from St Helens was arrested on suspicion of section 18 wounding and has since been charged.

He remains in custody until a later date.

A police spokesman said: “A full investigation has now been launched. CCTV opportunities are being explored and the scene has been forensically examined.”
