SWIMMERS using St Helens Council pools are in safe hands after scoring a perfect 100 per cent in a nationally accredited qualification.
Council staff in its four pools are all National Pool Lifeguard qualified and staying accredited requires continuous training.
St Helens Pools are Qualified Lifeguard IQL Approved Training Centres.
The IQL manages the Royal Lifesaving Society ‘National Pool Lifeguard Qualification’ via its 860 plus Approved Training Centres.
The scheme sets the benchmark for high standards in training provision and assessment.
Following on from improvements made last year, when the IQ independent external verification inspection scored the training centres 88 per cent, St Helens has now scored 100 per cent and joins a limited number of training centres in the country with the top score.
Deputy council leader Barrie Grunewald said: “Customer Safety is at the heart of everything the councils leisure service delivers.
“I am delighted that the quality of training provided to customers in the interest of staff safety is reflected in this excellent score.
“I am sure customers will be reassured that the professional approach to training demonstrated in this score provides a swimming environment they can trust.”
