A STAR of the hit BBC show The Apprentice has provided a group of local apprentices with a surprise dose of inspiration.

Former social housing tenant Adam Corbally met up with Helena’s Cassi Pickavance, Scott Wetton, Sam Ashton and Jade Campbell to share the story of his career journey from a fruit and veg stall to the top of the business world.

Adam said: “The apprentices I met came from different walks of life but were united in their ambition to make the most of the opportunity they’ve been given to learn a trade with Helena.

“We had a great question and answer session and I hope they got as much from it as I did.”

Plumbing apprentice Jade Campbell, 18, is one of a growing number of women learning a trade with Helena’s maintenance arm, Propertycare.

She has previously completed work experience with Bramall Construction – a long-term partner of Helena – as part of a Community Energy Saving Programme project on Clock Face’s Four Acre estate.

Jade said: “An apprenticeship is the right choice for me because I can’t stand sitting behind a desk all day and prefer to be more hands-on.

“I really enjoyed studying plumbing at St Helens College last year and now I can’t wait to get stuck into the real thing.”

Market trader and businessman Adam Corbally was the special guest at Helena’s Your Space Market Place event last week.

Helena has pledged to invest heavily in opportunities for young people, including the creation of a new apprenticeship for every £1m it spends over the next five years.
