SAINTS star Paul Wellens is backing a campaign to end the blight of domestic violence.
The scheme aims to raise awareness of the problem in the borough and encourage victims to report abuse.
Organised by officials at St Helens Council, there is also a drive to sign an online petition.
There were 357 reports of domestic violence in St Helens over the past 12 months, while there were 38 restraining injunction or non-molestation orders granted by the courts during the same period.
Coun Richard McCauley, cabinet member for environmental protection and safer communities, said: “We’re delighted that Saints are playing a major role in this campaign.”
Saints skipper Paul added: “It’s a crime that cuts across all social, cultural and religious boundaries and has devastating consequences for victims, and their families.
