St Helens Care Home rated as ‘Good’ following inspection

St Helens Care Home, Stocks Hall, has been rated as ‘Good’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in their recent Inspection.

The home has won the praise of both the people living there and the Care Quality Commission.

People living at Stocks Hall in Dentons Green, told Inspectors that the Home was ‘A great place to live’.

Stocks Hall Care Home provides support and care for up to 54 adults with a diverse and complex range of needs. Adults from 18 to young elderly live at the home and their needs include physical, psychological, communicational and emotional support. There were 53 people living in the Home when the inspection took place in June this year.

The CQC, who is the Independent Regulator of Health and Social Care for England, visited the home in Elderflower Road and rated it ‘Good’ in all main areas - Safety, Effectiveness of Service, Caring Levels of Response and Leadership.

Inspectors found that people living at the Home, spoke positively about the support they received from members of staff.

They said ‘they felt safe and secure at the Home and were well-supported by staff who had the necessary skills to help them with their Individual needs’. They described the staff as compassionate.

Inspectors also commented that there were effective systems in place and corporate responsibility for the safe delivery of care and support.

Relatives of people living at Stocks Hall also told the inspectors that they felt their family members were safe and comments included: “It is a marvellous home and has very good management staff who really care.”

More personal quotes included ”I don’t know what we would have done, if we had not found this place’, and ‘nothing is too much trouble for them’.

Staff told Inspectors how good it was to work at the Home, their comments included: “Staff are always thinking of ways to get the best for people who live here. We are encouraged to pass on ideas for continuous improvement. We have a wonderful supportive manager and great quality managers who are always around to listen. Best place I have ever worked in.”
