Shop sold booze to teenage lad

A SHOP worker has been fined after he admitted selling booze to a 16-year-old lad.

Mohamed Yusuf Mohamed Hanifa allowed the teenager to buy a large bottle of vodka from his Freshway store in Duke Street, St Helens.

The 53-year-old, from Atherton, Manchester, was caught as part of a trading stadards sting in February.

He appeared before JPs at St Helens Magistrates Court on September 13 where pleded guilty and was fined £525 and ordered to pay £267 costs.

Chief Inspector Keith McLachlen said: Clearly underage drinking can lead to numerous problems, both for the young people themselves and for the wider community.”
