Shooting sparks panic

A GUNMAN sparked panic last night after opening fire in a residential street.

Police were called to Derbyshire Hill Road in Parr after terrified residents reported hearing a single shot fired at around 7.20pm.

No-one was injured and no damage was caused but investigating officers were quickly able to confirm a bullet had been fired.

Forensic officers are currently combing the area for clues and conducting house-to-house inquiries.

A force spokeswoman said: “An investigation to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident has been launched to identify those responsible, high visibility patrols have been stepped up and CCTV examined.

“At this early stage the motive for the incident is unknown.”
