It has been reported that former That’s Life producer Mr Woodward has moved in with Luke Redgrave, the grandson of acting great, Sir Michael Redgrave.

But despite the family turmoil, famed food writer Ella Woodward says she and her siblings are happy for their dad.

“Obviously it's sad that (my parents) have split up, and not one of the

easiest things to deal with, but my siblings and I feel that even if the

Dad is happy. And to be honest that’s fundamentally what matters. If this is what he wants in his life, then good for me

transition is difficult, everyone will end up happier,” she said.

“Honestly, I have been able to accept my father’s new relationship because you get to that point with your parents that you realise it’s their life, not yours.

“I have my life. I have Matt. I have my work, which I love, and I have my friends. So as long as my mum is okay, which she absolutely is, and my dad is okay, to be honest, it’s fine.”

The 24-year-old added: “Dad is happy. And to be honest that's fundamentally

what matters. If this is what he wants in his life, then good for me.”

The Deliciously Ella writer is to marry in April and says Redgrave is “definitely coming to the wedding. Absolutely.”

Mr Woodward made his name as a producer on That’s Life before moving into politics as the Conservative Party’s communications director.

He then became a Tory MP and was tipped for a cabinet post before quitting the party in 1999, crossing Parliament to join Labour.

He was controversially ‘parachuted’ into the St Helens South seat during the 2001 Labour landslide, serving as the town’s MP until the 2015 election.
