A lost seal being treated for pneumonia after being found miles from the sea has eaten his first meal since being rescued. The animal, now named Dumbledore, was found stranded in a field in Newton-le-Willows, at least 20 miles (32km) from the sea on December 22. He was rescued and taken to the RSPCA’s specialist seal facility in East Winch, Norfolk, the following day where he has since been diagnosed with pneumonia. Dumbledore, who is thought to be about three years old, still has laboured breathing. RSPCA staff are hopeful he will make a full recovery.
