ARMED robbers struck at a St Helens petrol station in the early hours of Monday morning (September 19) - just a week after a carbon-copy incident at another of the chain’s garages.

Police say four men armed with sticks and a hammer forced their way through a perspex door at the Caldo petrol station in Worsley Brow, Sutton, at about 1.15am.

Once inside the shop area, the balaclava-clad gang, who spoke with Liverpool accents, threatened the lone cashier before stealing cash and cigarettes

They also forced their way into the back office - stealing more cash.

At 12.10am on Monday, September 12, two robbers, armed with sticks and an iron bar, targeted the Caldo petrol station on the East Lancs Road, near to Windle Island.

They then stole cash from the till and cigarettes.

Witnesses should call St Helens CID on 0151 777 6078 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
