TRIBUTES have been paid to a rugby league star who was killed in a car crash in Burtonwood.
Cook Island international Dana Wilson died in the early hours of Sunday, September 4.
The 28-year-old prop was a key member of Swinton Lions’ promotion-winning team in Co-operative Championship 1 this year.
Wilson, who lived with his wife Kirsten and three children in Newton-le-Willows, was born in Auckland but had played in England for the last six years, including a spell at Leigh Centurions between 2006 and 2007.
Former Leigh teammate and current assistant coach at the Centurions Paul Rowley has paid tribute to the “gentle giant.”
Dana’s death is the second fatal road crash in Burtonwood in the past month.
Kirsty Goulden, 17, died after at the car she was travelling in smashied into a wall on Alder Lane on August 17.
