Leighton Holt, who is accused of murdering the popular former bouncer, has been remanded in custody to await his retrial on October 30.

Holt, 20, from Stockbridge Village, denies murdering Mr Fox.

Former doorman Mr Fox, who also worked as a carer for autistic children, was stabbed in the chest in the early hours of September 2 last year following an altercation in St Helens town centre.

He died from a single stab wound to his upper chest.

Holt denied murder and claimed he acted in self-defence.
