POLICE sniffed out a massive cannabis factory at a rented property in St Helens.
Acting on community intelligence, officers executed a successful warrant at an address in Park Road North, Newton-le-Willows, on August 1.
They recovered plants and bags of cannabis worth an estimated value of £85,000.
Neighbourhood Sergeant Jason Pulford said: “This was an excellent result that would not have been possible without the help of the public and the information they provided. This action demonstrates how Merseyside Police will act swiftly on all information provided.
“We take drugs activity very seriously and understand the negative effects it can have on a community and I thank those who came forward and provided the invaluable information that helped us uncover this factory.”
Sgt Pulford added: “While this is a great result we must also remember that the landlord of this property has been left with thousands of pounds of damage to the property. She is a completely innocent victim of this criminal activity and has been left to pick up the pieces.
“Inquiries are underway to trace the tenant and detectives are confident that an arrest will be made soon.”
