The offences took place between October 2013 and the end of November 2014.
He was also ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life and has been made the subject of a lifetime Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
McCullough, from Wythenshawe, meet his victim on a social media site and pretended to be a 16-year-old lad.
The girl was aged just 12 when the grooming began.
He spent months grooming her before meeting her in hotels and at secluded locations around St Helens where he took advantage of her trusting nature and sexually abused her.
He was caught when the girl’s parents became suspicious and altered police.
