A FOOTBALL mad father and son are aiming to visit every league stadium in the country to raise precious funds for charity.
Eleven-year-old Liverpool FC fan Jamie McNally plans to watch games at all 92 league grounds with his dad, Graeme, to raise cash for the Marina Dalglish cancer appeal.
The Sutton Leach duo have already made a good start too - they’ve already been to QPR, Sheffield Wednesday, Macclesfield Town, Shrewsbury Town, Nottingham Forest, Huddersfield Town and Aston Villa, to name just a few!
Graeme, of Minehead Grove, said: “We started in October and have been to 15 grounds so far. It was a simple idea at first because we’re both big football fans and we like watching games at different grounds. But when it started gathering pace we decided to do it for charity.
“We’ve seen some cracking games already. QPR played really nice football and the Tranmere vs MK Dons game was a classic because there was so much action - not to mention two sendings off and two penalties.
“But our favourite ground so far has been Morecambe. They couldn’t have been nicer and really looked after us.”
Graeme and Jamie have set out a hectic Easter schedule in which they plan to scour the country to watch Rochdale, Coventry and Portsmouth.
They are keeping a photo scrapbook of all their stadium visits too and have already had their picture taken alongside QPR boss Neil Warnock, Sammy McIlroy and several mascots.
But the duo have not yet set a time limit to achieve their overall goal because of Jamie’s football commitments with Winwick Athletic and because the youngster is due to start at Sutton High in September.
Graeme, a warehouse supervisor who has secured sponsorship from his workplace, drinks company Halewood International, added: “We wanted to raise money for the Marina Dalglish appeal because we’re both big Liverpool fans and cancer is a disease which affects everyone.
“We’re going to make Anfield our last stadium visit on the mission though because we want to plan something really special for it.”
