An under 8s football team has secured £1,000 funding from a North West builder.

Newton-le-Willows U8 Aces football team were awarded the cash as part of Persimmon Homes’ Community Champions scheme, that allows charities and groups to apply for funding up to the value of £1,000.

This is just the second season for the Aces, who play in the Warrington Junior Football League. Newton-le-Willows FC has teams from U7 up to U18, promoting sports activity in the community from an early age.

Donna Hill, a spokesman for Newton le Willows U8 Aces, said: “This is our second season and we wanted to buy new football kit and equipment for 10 very active little boys.

“Thank you so much Persimmon Homes, we are so happy – and the team look amazing in their new kits.”

Dave Hodgson, sales director for Persimmon Homes North West, said: “Supporting Newton le Willows U8 Aces is exactly what Community Champions is about.

“The ambitions of the club are for the benefit of youngsters in and around Newton le Willows to engage in physical activity and we wanted to support it any way we could.

“As always it was a difficult decision to select our Community Champions but I would encourage any charity or organisation that missed out this time, even if they have won previously, to apply again.”
