A MEMORIAL service for fatal bridge fall victim John Blackburn is set to be held this weekend.
John, 32, of Nutgrove, died on the evening of May 6 after falling from the landmark Sherdley Bridge – which passes over the St Helens Linkway – while out walking his beloved American bulldog, Winston.
Dozens of bouquets of flowers are still attached to the bridge’s railings in John’s honour some six weeks later.
The memorial service is set to take place at 6pm this Saturday at St Thomas CE Church on Westfield Street.
John’s partner, Kevin Foster, says everybody who knew John is welcome to attend, adding that the ceremony is designed to be “a celebration of John’s life”.
