A SERIAL shoplifter has admitted stealing a DVD player from Tesco.
Paul McQuiggan, 47, entered the Chalon Way supermarket on June 8, picked up a Blue Ray DVD player worth £130 and strolled out of the shop without paying. He was stopped by store security guards moments later and the goods were recovered.
St Helens Magistrates’ Court heard that the defendant admitted: “I’ve done a wrong ’un, I’ve done a bad thing”.
McQuiggan, of Simonstone Grove, Sutton, was in breach of a conditional discharge which had been imposed just five days earlier.
McQuiggan told magistrates that he had voluntarily signed an agreement with the police not to enter any retail store in St Helens for the next three months and Magistrates adjourned the case to July 14 for a probation report.
