A MAN has been arrested following a shooting.

The 25-year-old man was arrested at his home address in Whiston at around 9pm last night by officers from Huyton neighbourhood support team in relation to a shooting in Stockbridge Village three weeks ago.

Detectives from the Matrix Serious Organised Crime unit are questioning the man on suspicion of possession of a firearm, wounding and possession of Class A and B drugs.

The shooting happened at a house in Steerscroft in Stockbridge Village in the afternoon on January 14.

Three offenders forced their way into the house looking to steal a bike and, when confronted by the victim, who was himself a visitor at the property, shot him in the leg.

Two men aged 17 and 18 from Walton and Kirkby respectively, who were arrested a few days after the shooting, remain on conditional police bail pending further enquiries.
