POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a crash in St Helens last Thursday evening (August 18).
Emergency crews were called to Lugsmore Lane, Thatto Heath, at about 7.15pm.
The accident involved a Ford Mondeo and a white Transit van, but a police spokeswoman said that the driver of the Transit, a 20-year-old man from Thatto Heath, failed to stop at the scene.
He did, however, present himself at a local police station the following day.
Three people in the Mondeo were subsequently hospitalised after their car collided with a garden wall.
Firefighters from Eccleston, Parr Stocks and the Liverpool-based search and rescue team administered oxygen to a 17-year-old girl and fitted her with a neck collar.
Two men, one with neck injuries and one with neck and shoulder injuries, were also treated by paramedics before being taken to Whiston Hospital.
A police spokeswoman said: “The occupants of the Mondeo had suffered slight injuries and were taken to hospital. The driver of the Transit failed to stop at the scene but has since presented himself to a local police station.
“An investigation into the collision has been launched and no arrests have been made.”
